KABUL, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) has signed 22 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with prominent domestic and international partners over the past three months, the authority announced on Tuesday.

The deals, totaling 41.73 million U.S. dollars, are designed to enhance disaster preparedness, reduce vulnerability to natural hazards, deliver rapid humanitarian assistance to affected populations, and strengthen support for the country's most at-risk communities, the authority posted on its X account.

Official data indicate that since late March, a series of severe natural disasters, including torrential rains, windstorms, earthquakes, lightning strikes, roof collapses, landslides, and flash floods, have resulted in more than 275 fatalities and over 350 injuries.

The Afghan government has renewed its call for sustained financial and technical support from local and international partners, stressing the urgent need for a comprehensive national resilience strategy to tackle the country's deep-rooted economic challenges, support vulnerable communities, and create sustainable livelihoods.
