KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Xinhua) -- China and Malaysia have strengthened their cultural diplomacy and heritage cooperation through the successful organization of the China-Malaysia Intangible Cultural Heritage Exchange on Batik Art here on Saturday.
The exchange spotlighted the artistic brilliance and historical legacy of both Chinese and Malaysian batik traditions by transforming heritage into a dynamic bridge for diplomacy, creativity, and regional unity. It also reinforced Malaysia's strategic vision of using culture to foster deeper international engagement and robust people-to-people ties, the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture said in a statement.
"The exhibition beautifully highlighted the distinct artistic expressions unique to each nation. Batik from China's Guizhou Province captivated attendees with its intricate indigo aesthetics and symbolic ethnic motifs deeply rooted in ancestral traditions. Conversely, Malaysian batik showcased vibrant, bold colours, floral inspirations, and innovative contemporary applications tailored for modern fashion and design," it said.
"Celebrating a milestone in bilateral relations, these joint efforts also directly complement the strategic objectives of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026). The landmark tourism campaign seeks to showcase the nation's rich cultural diversity and heritage as foundational pillars to amplify tourism appeal, firmly positioning Malaysia as a premier destination on the global stage," it said. ■
