KATHMANDU, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Foreign direct investment (FDI) commitments to Nepal decreased year on year during the first 11 months of the current 2025-26 fiscal year, said a report by the Department of Industry on Monday.

The South Asian nation received pledges worth 47.61 billion Nepali rupees (about 314.56 million U.S. dollars) between mid-July 2025 and mid-June 2026, down from 60.6 billion rupees during the same period in the fiscal year 2024-25. The commitment amount is for 914 projects aimed at generating 25,450 jobs.

While the agriculture sector received the highest share of pledges in terms of monetary value, the information and communications technology and tourism sectors were ahead in terms of the number of projects, according to the report.
