ALMATY, June 15 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank has invited Kazakhstan to become a priority partner and participating country in its global strategy on digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI), the Kazakh prime minister's official website said Monday in a press release.

Kazakhstan's level of digitalization is highly advanced compared to many other developing countries, World Bank Vice President for Digital and AI Sangbu Kim said during talks with Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov in Astana.

Kazakhstan has designated 2026 as the Year of Digitalization, focusing on large-scale adoption of AI solutions across all sectors of the economy. The country recently adopted the Digital Qazaqstan strategy through 2029, Bektenov noted.

The framework agreement covers digital connectivity and infrastructure, digital government platforms and identification systems, data regulation and cybersecurity, digital skills, and the development of the AI ecosystem, the release said.

It added that Kazakhstan ranks in the top tier of the World Bank's GovTech Maturity Index and ranks sixth globally.
