HANOI, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and his Cambodian counterpart, Hun Manet, on Monday agreed to facilitate customs clearance and the movement of goods between the two countries, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The two leaders held talks in Hanoi during Hun Manet's official visit to Vietnam, where he is set to attend the ASEAN Future Forum on Tuesday and Wednesday.

They agreed on a range of measures to strengthen infrastructure and cross-border connectivity, including advancing expressway links between Ho Chi Minh City/Moc Bai and Bavet/Phnom Penh and studying the expansion of air links between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The two sides also pledged to explore the development of special economic zones and cross-border economic zones, said the report.

They reaffirmed their commitment not to allow hostile forces to use the territory of one country to undermine or threaten the security and interests of the other.

According to data shared at the talks, bilateral trade reached nearly 5 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of 2026, up 9.6 percent from a year earlier.

During the same period, Vietnam received nearly 400,000 Cambodian visitors, marking a year-on-year increase of 41.6 percent.
