JAKARTA, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said on Monday that the country must transform its economy to fully reflect the principles of Pancasila, the country's founding state ideology.
Speaking at a ceremony marking Pancasila Day, Prabowo said one of Indonesia's greatest challenges is ensuring that economic development is aligned with Pancasila's values.
Prabowo said a Pancasila-based economy should be morally grounded, people-centered and aimed at strengthening national unity. He stressed that natural resources are a trust that must be managed responsibly for the benefit of current and future generations.
He also said economic growth must be accompanied by equitable distribution so that development benefits all Indonesians.
According to Prabowo, the government is pursuing national transformation through measures including a single-channel natural resource export policy, downstream industrial development, stronger food security, and support for cooperatives, rural economies, education, healthcare and governance. ■
