India's forex reserves fall by over 7.5 bln USD

NEW DELHI, May 29 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves declined by 7.51 billion U.S. dollars to 681.38 billion dollars during the week ended May 22, the country's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), revealed on Friday.

This was the second consecutive week when India's forex reserves had fallen. During the preceding week, they had decreased by 8.09 billion dollars.

According to the latest RBI bulletin, the Foreign Currency Assets (FCAs) decreased by 2.87 billion dollars to 543.03 billion dollars, while the Gold Reserves fell by 4.53 billion dollars to 114.79 billion dollars.

It further revealed that the Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) decreased by 77 million dollars to 18.75 billion dollars, and the country's Reserve Position in the International Monetary Fund weakened by 33 million dollars to 4.82 billion dollars.
