KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Tourism Malaysia and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen tourism cooperation and enhance connectivity between the two countries ahead of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, the Malaysian tourism promotion agency said on Tuesday.

The partnership reflects a joint commitment to position Malaysia as a preferred travel destination by leveraging Singapore Airlines' extensive global network across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, Tourism Malaysia said in a statement.

The collaboration is also expected to support the recovery of Malaysia's aviation and tourism sectors by strengthening regional hub connectivity through Singapore.

The one-year agreement, which takes effect this month, will focus on joint marketing and promotional initiatives to drive tourist traffic into Malaysia.

According to Tourism Malaysia, the partnership is expected to strengthen momentum for Vit Malaysia 2026 and support sustained tourism growth into 2027.
