MANILA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Four members of a family and a motorcycle rider were killed on Monday morning, while two others, including a child, were injured after a three-vehicle collision in Isabela province, the northern Philippines, according to local authorities.
An investigation said a trailer truck collided with a multi-purpose vehicle and a motorcycle before crashing into a roadside tree. The multi-purpose vehicle allegedly encroached on the lane of the trailer truck, whose rear tire reportedly burst and its brakes malfunctioned, causing its driver to lose control.
Four occupants of the family vehicle and the motorcycle driver died on the spot, while two others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Local media reported the family was on its way to visit relatives for a vacation when the accident occurred. ■
