MALE, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu said the country's Citizens' Complaints Bureau will begin operations by July 26, according to an announcement by the President's Office.
Muizzu said the bureau would strengthen government accountability and improve public services.
The bureau will operate from the President's Office and handle complaints across the government around the clock, Muizzu said. He added that administrative work in the office was progressing quickly and that he had appointed a senior official to lead it.
The new system will use artificial intelligence and digital technology to collect information from relevant agencies and respond to citizens more quickly, he said. It will also include a 24-hour call center.
Citizens will be able to submit complaints by letter, email, telephone, social media, the Citizens Voice platform and the GEMS messaging platform.
Muizzu said the bureau would monitor how agencies respond to complaints and ensure timely action. ■
