ISLAMABAD, May 23 (Xinhua) -- At least three members of a family were killed and two others injured after the roof of a house collapsed in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province early Saturday, rescue officials said.
The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. local time in Padang Majoki area of Charsadda district, where five members of a family were trapped under the debris after the roof suddenly caved in, Bilal Ahmad Faizi, spokesperson for Rescue 1122 KP, told Xinhua.
Rescue teams rushed to the site shortly after receiving information and launched an operation with the assistance of local residents to pull the victims from the rubble.
Three children, identified as 12-year-old Sajawal, 3-year-old Abu Bakar, and 2-year-old Umair, died in the incident, he said.
The injured, Ajad, 35, and Naila, 25, were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the collapse. ■
