YANGON, May 22 (Xinhua) -- The China-Myanmar Cultural Salon of Tea for Harmony 2026 was held in Yangon, Myanmar, on Thursday.
Co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and the Myanmar Tea Association, the event brought together more than 300 representatives from governmental organizations, trade associations, universities, enterprises and media of China and Myanmar.
Li Qianguo, counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, said at the event that tea connects humans and nature, history and modernity, as well as China and the world. He noted that tea not only represents the ancient Chinese civilization, but also witnesses the harmonious co-existence and mutual appreciation of different civilizations.
Li said that China's tea industry continues to grow while inheriting traditional techniques, with continuous quality improvement and integration with other sectors.
As Myanmar also boasts a deep-rooted tradition of tea culture, Li expressed confidence that the event would provide a great opportunity for exchange and cooperation in the tea industry and related fields between the two countries.
Kay Thi Htwe, rector of the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon), said that tea culture has been deeply integrated into the social life and traditional customs of both peoples since ancient times.
Kay Thi Htwe hoped that the event would not only help the world better understand Myanmar's tea culture, but also further enhance mutual understanding and friendly exchanges between the two nations.
During the event, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on tea cultural traditions, industrial development, consumption and health, while exploring potential cooperation. ■
