ISLAMABAD, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces killed 23 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations conducted in different areas of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military has said.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said on Thursday that the operations were carried out in North Waziristan and Bannu districts of the province as part of the country's ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.
Weapons, ammunition and a large cache of explosives and improvised explosive devices have also been recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the province.
Moreover, during sanitization operations, the ISPR said that a series of complex underground tunnels and bunkers used by the terrorists were also unearthed and destroyed by the security forces.
Sanitization operations continue to eliminate other terrorists in the area, said the military, adding that the law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country. ■
