WELLINGTON, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Niue has named a four-member cabinet following a general election earlier this month, the Pacific Media Network (PMN) reported on Wednesday.
It was announced Tuesday local time that Prime Minister Dalton Tagelagi will lead the government alongside three ministers, Kahealani Senhemana Hekau, Richie Mautama and Rhonda Tiakia Tomailuga. All were re-elected to the Niue Assembly in the May 2 general election.
A record seven women were elected to the Niue Assembly in recent election, according to the PMN. Under Niue's system, the prime minister selects ministers from within the assembly.
Niue is self-governing in free association with New Zealand, which provides support in areas including foreign affairs and defense if requested by the Niue government. ■
