DHAKA, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The highest economic policymaking body of the Bangladeshi government has approved around 3 trillion taka (about 24.59 billion U.S. dollars) Annual Development Program (ADP) for the next fiscal year 2026-27 (July 2026-June 2027).
The amount is over 30 percent higher than that of the current fiscal year.
The new ADP was approved at a National Economic Council (NEC) meeting presided over by Prime Minister and NEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman on Monday.
Bangladeshi Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury told journalists that out of the 3 trillion taka budget, 1.99 trillion taka will come from local sources, while the rest will come from foreign project assistance.
Prioritizing allocations in transport and communication, education, health, and agriculture, the new development budget seeks to both ensure equitable socio-economic progress and address the pressures of the 4th industrial revolution, he added. ■
