MELBOURNE, May 16 (Xinhua) -- A 14-year-old boy has died and two other teenagers were critically injured after a car crash in the Australian state of Victoria's northwest on Saturday, police said.
The vehicle left the Calder Highway near Woosang-Yeungroon Road, about 250 km northwest of Melbourne, the state capital, shortly before 10 a.m. local time and struck a tree, said a police statement.
Emergency services responded to the scene, where the teenage passenger was pronounced dead.
The driver, aged 18, and another 14-year-old passenger were trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut from the vehicle before being airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Victoria Police said the car was believed to have been stolen from a property in Mildura, about 542 km northwest of Melbourne, overnight. Detectives are examining the circumstances of the crash. ■
