JAKARTA, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has received crude oil shipments from Nigeria as part of a strategic push to diversify its energy sources amid ongoing Middle East tensions, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said Wednesday.

Laode Sulaeman, the ministry's director general of oil and gas, said that initial supplies from Nigeria have already arrived.

Sulaeman noted that Indonesia has been prioritizing crude oil from areas with shipping routes that bypass the Strait of Hormuz.

On Monday, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said that Indonesia is set to begin importing Russian crude within weeks.
