BANGKOK, May 13 (Xinhua) -- SUBCON Thailand 2026, an international industrial exhibition and business matching event, commenced here on Wednesday, aiming to strengthen the Southeast Asian country's position as a regional hub for industrial parts sourcing and subcontracting.
In his opening remarks, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas emphasized that the trade show allows local businesses to meet world-class buyers, learn about new technologies and standards, and advance from built-to-order parts manufacturers to industry solution co-creators and future global corporate partners.
The event, now in its 20th year, reflected the new direction of global industries as they transitioned into a modern supply chain era that prioritizes advanced technology, sustainability, and risk diversification, said Narit Therdsteerasukdi, secretary general of the Thailand Board of Investment.
It also focuses on building supply chains for emerging sectors such as electric vehicles, semiconductors, advanced electronics, automation and robotics, medical devices, and aerospace, Narit said.
According to the organizers, the four-day exhibition brought together a total of 239 companies worldwide, including 154 domestic parts manufacturers and more than 90 buyer companies to participate in business matching activities, with projected future trade value exceeding 20 billion baht (around 617 million U.S. dollars). ■
