Pakistan's remittances increase 11.4 pct in April

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan recorded 3.5 billion U.S. dollars in workers' remittances in April 2026, marking an increase of 11.4 percent year-on-year, the State Bank of Pakistan said on Monday.

Remittances declined by 7.6 percent on a month-on-month basis compared to March 2026, the central bank said in a statement.

Cumulatively, workers' remittances stood at 33.9 billion dollars during the July-April period of fiscal year 2025-26, reflecting an increase of 8.5 percent from 31.2 billion dollars received during the corresponding period last year.

The central bank said remittances during April were mainly sourced from Saudi Arabia, which contributed 841.7 million dollars, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 734.7 million dollars.

Inflows from the Britian amounted to 563.7 million dollars, while remittances from the United States stood at 317.6 million dollars, the bank added.
