SINGAPORE, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Singapore recorded its highest-ever tourism receipts in 2025, as international visitor arrivals reached 16.9 million and generated 32.8 billion Singapore dollars (about 25.86 billion U.S. dollars), Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu said on Friday.
China, Indonesia and Australia were the top source markets by tourism receipts, while long-haul markets including Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States registered double-digit year-on-year growth, Fu said at the Tourism Industry Conference 2026.
She said the strong performance was supported by a robust calendar of events and tourism experiences throughout 2025.
To sustain momentum, the government will inject 740 million Singapore dollars over the next five years to support its Tourism 2040 strategy, aimed at strengthening Singapore's long-term competitiveness as a global destination amid Middle East tensions.
"Our strong performance in 2025 is encouraging, but we cannot afford to be complacent. There are challenges on the horizon, given the Middle East energy crisis and its knock-on impact on consumer spending," she noted.
The funding will focus on strengthening Singapore's positioning as a global hub for people, capital and trade, enhancing its appeal as a world-class city, and supporting resilient businesses with strong human capital, she added. ■
