BANGKOK/PHNOM PENH, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met his Cambodian counterpart Hun Manet and Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Philippines, the Thai prime minister's office said on Thursday.

Anutin discussed the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border with Cambodian and Philippine leaders, said Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the office.

"I just had a friendly and candid discussion with Prime Minister Hun Manet. We both reaffirm that we will jointly endeavor to move towards peace through dialogue," Anutin said at a joint press conference held after the trilateral talk.

"Prime Minister Hun Manet and I agreed to assign our foreign ministers to work together closely on a list of practical confidence-building measures," Anutin added.

Hun Manet, for his part, described the talks as reflecting "a collective resolve for lasting peace."

He said discussions focused on de-escalation and trust-building measures to restore and consolidate a functioning framework for lasting peace and normalized relations.
