KABUL, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Three young men have lost their lives in two separate drowning incidents while swimming in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, the provincial police office confirmed in a statement released Friday evening.
According to the statement, two of the victims drowned in Momand Dara district, while the third perished at Nakamura pond in Nazyan district.
In a similar incident on Friday, two women drowned, and four individuals, including two children, remain missing after two separate incidents involving fast-rising river waters in the southern Helmand province.
Police officials have urged citizens, particularly the youth, to refrain from swimming in deep waters, flood-prone zones, fast-flowing rivers, and other perilous locations. ■
