KABUL, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics forces have seized 50 kg of methamphetamine, or "ice," and arrested 75 suspected drug smugglers in a series of targeted operations, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said on Saturday.
The largest haul was made in Kang district of western Nimroz province, according to the ministry's statement.
In a wider crackdown on illicit drug networks, police have also taken into custody 76 individuals across 14 provinces on charges related to drug trafficking, sale, and possession.
The Afghan government has intensified its campaign against narcotics, vowing a sustained offensive to eradicate poppy cultivation and dismantle the production and distribution networks of heroin and other synthetic drugs. ■
