SEOUL, April 29 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's tech giant LG Electronics posted its record revenue for the first quarter due to strong demand for home appliances and TVs, the company said Wednesday.
The company's revenue climbed 4.3 percent from a year earlier to 23.73 trillion won (about 16.1 billion U.S. dollars) in the January-March quarter, achieving its highest-ever revenue for any first quarter.
Its operating profit jumped 32.9 percent to 1.67 trillion won, and the net income advanced 14.8 percent to 1.01 trillion won.
Despite economic uncertainty, core businesses such as home appliances and TVs contributed to strong performance based on premium products, the company said. ■
