KABUL, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Construction has begun on a new commercial center in Aybak city, capital of northern Afghanistan's Samangan province, in a bid to stimulate local economic activity and support private sector growth, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported Wednesday.
The project, with a cost of two million U.S. dollars, is expected to create new business opportunities, generate employment, and improve access to modern commercial services for local traders and small enterprises, according to the report.
Once completed, the commercial center will house business facilities designed to accommodate merchants, boost trade, and enhance market accessibility across the province and surrounding districts.
The development comes as Afghanistan seeks to revitalize its economy through private investment and infrastructure projects, aiming to reduce unemployment, promote domestic commerce, and foster sustainable economic recovery amid ongoing challenges in the post-conflict business environment. ■
