HANOI, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Three children were killed in a fire that burned down their stilt house early Sunday in Lai Chau, a northern mountainous province of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The blaze broke out in the kitchen at around 1 a.m. local time while the kids' parents were away, said the report.
The three victims, born in 2012, 2014 and 2019, had locked the door from the inside before going to sleep, which prevented villagers from rescuing them.
The fire was brought under control after 4 a.m., destroying the house and damaging a nearby classroom and a neighboring home, the report added. ■
