YANGON, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar exported over 355,225 tons of green mung beans in the 2025-2026 fiscal year (April 2025 to March 2026), generating over 315 million U.S. dollars in export earnings, according to the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) on Thursday.
The export volume declined compared with the 2024-2025 fiscal year, during which the country exported more than 600,633 tons of green mung beans and earned over 425 million U.S. dollars.
To boost green mung bean exports, the country is adopting Good Agricultural Practices, which promote sustainable farming, reduce the use of harmful chemicals, and ensure food safety standards, U Ye Min Aung, Vice President of the UMFCCI, told Xinhua.
Green mung beans were exported to key markets including China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines, he said.
In addition, European markets, particularly the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and France, were among the notable buyers of Myanmar's green mung beans, he added. ■
