1st meeting of China-Cambodia "2+2" strategic dialogue reaches six points of consensus

PHNOM PENH, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and foreign minister, on Thursday briefed the media on the six points of consensus reached during the first meeting between Chinese and Cambodian foreign ministers and defense ministers under the "2+2" strategic dialogue mechanism.

First, both sides agreed to firmly support each other, focusing on supporting each other in safeguarding their core interests. China appreciates Cambodia's reaffirmation of its firm adherence to the one-China principle.

Second, both sides agreed to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, focusing on helping Cambodia accelerate its capacity for independent development, particularly on the construction of the "Industrial Development Corridor" and the "Fish and Rice Corridor," and advancing the strategic Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project.

Third, both sides agreed to strengthen political and security cooperation, focusing on safeguarding the security of their respective governments and systems, jointly resisting external infiltration, and preventing "color revolutions."

Fourth, both sides agreed to strengthen law enforcement cooperation, focusing on resolutely and thoroughly combating online gambling and telecom fraud.

Fifth, both sides agreed to strengthen defense cooperation, focusing on assisting Cambodia in accelerating its defense capacity building.

Sixth, both sides agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, focusing on opposing power politics and bullying, upholding global free trade, and supporting the United Nations in playing its due role.
