Pakistan completes preparation for 2nd round of U.S.-Iran talks: interior minister

ISLAMABAD, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam on Monday that preparations for the second phase of talks in Islamabad have been completed, said the interior ministry.

According to a statement, the minister met with the ambassador to discuss arrangements for the second round of talks, saying that foolproof security arrangements have been put in place for visiting foreign delegations.

The minister emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiations, stressing that a sustainable solution is essential for long-term regional stability and peace.

The Iranian envoy appreciated Pakistan's "positive and constructive role" in efforts aimed at reducing tensions and facilitating dialogue in the region, the statement said.

Earlier in the day, the interior minister visited the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and updated the U.S. side about the security arrangements for the second round of Islamabad talks, said a statement from the ministry.
