KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's new car sales slipped 3 percent year-on-year to 182,113 units in the first quarter, data from the Malaysian Automotive Association showed Monday.
Malaysia's new car production for the quarter also fell 10 percent year-on-year to 159,367 units, it said in a statement.
As for March, the new car sales fell 13 percent year-on-year to 63,489 units, while new car production declined by 17 percent to 48,129 units.
The moderation in total industry volume in March was mainly due to Eid al-Fitr festive holidays and temporary plant shutdowns during the festive period, it said.
The new car sales are expected to consolidate in April 2026, it added. ■
