NEW DELHI, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government Friday said it welcomed the recently implemented ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
The comments were made by India's foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a media briefing.
He further said India supports all efforts aimed at ensuring regional stability.
"We welcome the ceasefire. We welcome every step that leads towards peace," Jaiswal said in response to a media query.
A 10-day truce between Israel and Lebanon has come into effect. The move is seen as part of a bigger diplomatic push by the United States to end the ongoing conflict with Iran. ■
