BISHKEK, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's GDP grew by 10.1 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2026, reaching about 4.9 billion U.S. dollars, the country's National Statistical Committee reported on Wednesday.

The service sector remained the largest contributor to the economy, accounting for 50.4 percent of total GDP, while commodity-producing sectors made up 33.2 percent, and net taxes on products accounted for 16.4 percent.

Positive trends were observed in construction, where volumes increased by 29.6 percent, wholesale and retail trade by 12.1 percent, agriculture, forestry and fisheries by 2.8 percent, and hotel and restaurant services by 12.9 percent. Industrial output increased by 14 percent.

Meanwhile, consumer prices rose by 3.3 percent nationwide in January-March of this year compared to December 2025.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade in goods totaled 2.1 billion dollars in January-February 2026, decreasing 2.9 percent compared to the same period last year. Exports fell by 12.5 percent, while imports edged down 1.1 percent, the report said.
