Thailand's Songkran tourism revenue expected to exceed 936 mln USD

BANGKOK, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Songkran festival is expected to generate more than 30.35 billion baht (936 million U.S. dollars) in tourism revenue, marking a 6 percent increase over the same period last year, a report by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) showed.

International arrivals during the April 11-15 festival period are expected at some 500,000, a 4 percent increase year on year, generating around 8.1 billion baht in revenue, the agency said. Domestic tourism is projected to reach 5.96 million trips, a 7 percent increase, contributing approximately 22.25 billion baht.

"The strong performance of Songkran 2026 highlights the global appeal of Thailand's cultural charm," TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said.
