13 killed, 11 injured in two separate road accidents in India

NEW DELHI, April 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 13 people were killed and 11 others injured Monday in two separate road accidents in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, police said.

In the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, six people were killed and seven others were injured after a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Dhaulana-Gulawati road in the Hapur district.

According to police, the victims were returning from a wedding ceremony.

In a separate accident in the western Indian state of Gujarat, seven people were killed and four others were injured when a goods truck ran over Hindu devotees on the Lakhtar-Viramgam highway near Chharad village in Surendranagar district.

The devotees were part of a religious procession.

Police have registered cases and ordered investigations into the accidents.
