DHAKA, April 14 (Xinhua) -- At least seven paddy harvesters were killed as a truck veered off a road early Tuesday in Bangladesh's Cumilla district, some 96 km east of the capital Dhaka, a police official said.
"The accident left seven laborers dead on the spot," Daudkandi Highway Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Iqbal Bahar Majumdar told journalists.
He said the truck laden with rice and carrying the paddy harvesters went off the road and ended up in a canal at about 2:45 a.m. local time.
Besides the seven fatalities, six other people were hospitalized with injuries from the accident, he added. ■
