KABUL, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Kabul Municipality has announced an ambitious plan to implement 233 development projects in 2026 with a budget exceeding 9.123 billion afghanis (approximately 142.5 million U.S. dollars), the local media Tolo news reported on Sunday.

The projects will focus on key areas, including roads, bridges, buildings, and green spaces. This comes as nearly 70 percent of Kabul's urban expansion remains unplanned, presenting ongoing challenges for systematic development, the report said.

In 2025 alone, about 137 km of roads were newly constructed, 91 km were rehabilitated, and an additional 72 km were surveyed for future work. Over the past four and a half years, approximately 450 km of roads have been built across the city, reflecting continued investment in Kabul's transportation network.

The planned projects underscore the government's commitment to addressing urban development needs and improving the quality of life for Kabul residents.
