ISLAMABAD, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani navy rescued and evacuated 18 crew members from different countries following a distress call from a merchant vessel operating in the north Arabian Sea, the military said on Friday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement that the navy ship's team of specialists provided medical aid, assisted in firefighting, carried out damage assessment and rescued the crew.
The evacuated crew members were safely transported to Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi for medical care and repatriation to their respective countries, the ISPR said. ■
