ISLAMABAD, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday talked over the phone with his Lebanese counterpart Nawaf Salam to discuss Israeli aggression against Lebanon, according to the Prime Minister's Office.
In the phone call, the Pakistani prime minister expressed condolences over the loss of thousands of lives in the hostilities in Lebanon, saying Pakistan is engaged in sincere efforts for regional peace, the office said.
"It was in this spirit that the peace talks between Iran and the United States are being convened," he added.
For his part, the Lebanese prime minister sought Pakistan's support for bringing an immediate end to the attacks targeting Lebanon and its people.
Both leaders agreed to remain in contact, according to the office. ■
