TASHKENT, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan welcomes the announcement of a full ceasefire and the establishment of a truce in the Middle East mediated by Pakistan, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wednesday.
"We consider this an important step towards the de-escalation of tensions and the creation of conditions for political and diplomatic dialogue, as well as for the search for mutually acceptable solutions," the ministry said in a statement.
It called on all parties involved to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that could lead to a renewed escalation of the situation, and urged for a continued constructive engagement to achieve sustainable peace and stability.
The ministry reaffirmed Uzbekistan's unwavering position on the need to resolve conflicts exclusively through peaceful means, in strict accordance with the principles of the UN Charter. ■
