SEOUL, April 7 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's tech giant LG Electronics posted a record-high preliminary revenue for the first quarter, a regulatory filing showed Tuesday.
The company's preliminary revenue grew 4.4 percent from a year earlier to 23.73 trillion won (15.7 billion U.S. dollars) in the January-March quarter, marking a new high for the first quarter.
Its preliminary operating profit surged 32.9 percent to 1.67 trillion won (1.1 billion dollars) in the quarter, significantly outperforming market expectations.
Despite the continued macroeconomic uncertainty, the company's core businesses, including home appliances, kept growth based on strong product competitiveness and solid market positions, LG explained.
The net income and detailed earnings for each business unit will be unveiled later this month. ■
