KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 (Xinhua) -- An oil tanker chartered by Petco, a subsidiary of Malaysian energy firm Petronas, carrying Iraqi crude, passed through the Strait of Hormuz and is heading to the Port of Pengerang in Malaysia's Johor state, according to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

The ministry said in a statement that one of the seven Malaysian commercial vessels previously stranded in the Strait of Hormuz has been granted safe passage and is currently proceeding to its final destination.

The Ocean Thunder loaded about 1 million barrels of Basrah Heavy crude on March 2 and is expected to discharge its cargo in Pengerang in mid-April, based on data released by real-time data analytics firm Kpler and the London Stock Exchange Group.
