COLOMBO, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka will cancel the weekly Wednesday holiday for public sector employees starting this week, a senior official said Monday.
Commissioner General of Essential Services Prabath Chandrakeerthi said the new decision, which will take effect from Wednesday, aims to streamline government operations and ensure uninterrupted public service delivery.
The Wednesday holiday was introduced on March 17 to help conserve the country's fuel reserves amid a crisis situation in Sri Lanka. ■
