ULAN BATOR, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Strong winds and severe dust storms are hitting parts of Mongolia, causing poor visibility on roads, the country's National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring reported on Saturday.
The storms are affecting the southern Gobi provinces and the central provinces. Wind speeds have reached up to 24 meters per second, according to the weather monitoring agency.
The unstable weather is expected to continue through the weekend, the agency said, warning the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters.
Mongolia has a harsh continental climate, and strong winds, dust storms and snowstorms are common in spring. ■
