DUSHANBE, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Tajikistan launched its 2026 spring military conscription on Wednesday, the Defense Ministry said.
The conscription is being conducted under a decree signed in February by President Emomali Rahmon, under which men born between 1999 and 2008 are subject to conscription.
The draft will run until the end of May. Men of older ages who are not eligible for deferment or exemption are also subject to the draft.
Tajikistan conducts conscriptions twice a year, in spring and autumn. Military service is mandatory for men aged 18 and above under national law. Authorities said measures have been taken to improve service conditions, contributing to a rise in the number of volunteers among young people. ■
