Vietnamese PM orders study of additional oil reserve facilities

HANOI, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to study the construction of additional petroleum and crude oil storage facilities beyond the planned site in Nghi Son area in the central province of Thanh Hoa, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.

The proposed facilities are expected to be located in the Dung Quat area in the central province of Quang Ngai, Long Son area in Ho Chi Minh City and other locations.

The directive was issued as the prime minister chaired a meeting of the government's standing committee on preparations for a national crude oil reserve project in Nghi Son.

He also asked the Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group to take the lead, in coordination with relevant agencies and Thanh Hoa province, in promptly building a crude oil storage facility in Nghi Son to directly serve the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical complex as well as national reserves.
