KABUL, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched a series of development projects in northeastern and eastern Afghanistan to improve infrastructure and public services, the provincial government offices reported on Monday.
In Badakhshan province, 36 projects worth over 7 million U.S. dollars are being implemented in Faizabad city and Shahr-e-Bozorg district. The initiatives cover key sectors including road construction, bridges, mosques, electricity supply, and the drilling of water wells. A number of these projects have already been completed, while the remainder are under active implementation.
Meanwhile, in Khost province, four health centers have been constructed across four districts at a total cost of over 421,000 U.S. dollars. The centers are designed to provide maternal and child healthcare services, each serving approximately 4,500 families in the surrounding areas.
Officials said these initiatives are expected to strengthen basic infrastructure, expand access to essential services, and improve living conditions for residents in the targeted regions. ■
