KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The Malaysian government is prioritizing a balance between public welfare, inflation control, and sustainable economic growth in light of the Middle East conflict, maintaining the 2026 growth target of 4 percent to 4.5 percent, Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said on Sunday.

The projection factors in current risks such as geopolitical tensions and global supply chain disruptions, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir told Bernama.

To sustain growth, he said domestic spending must be supported, private investment should be encouraged, and government development projects must be executed as planned.

At the same time, he said the government must protect public welfare without undermining economic momentum.

"The biggest pressure we are currently facing is related to oil supply issues and inflation, but this balance must be achieved while ensuring that economic growth is not affected," he said.
