BISHKEK, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on Friday held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss current issues in bilateral cooperation, according to the Kyrgyz president's press service.

The two heads of state reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations in the spirit of alliance and strategic partnership, the press service said.

"The leaders of the two countries also exchanged views on key areas of cooperation, including trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres," it said, adding that specific topics on the international agenda were also discussed.

A report published on the Kremlin website said that a number of pressing bilateral issues were discussed during the phone conversation, including the implementation of joint projects in trade and economic affairs.

The two leaders emphasized their commitment to continuing close cooperation in light of Kyrgyzstan's current chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Kremlin said.
