HANOI, March 27 (Xinhua) -- A garbage truck driver was killed after a steel plate fell from a tractor-trailer during a crash in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, local media outlet Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper reported.
The accident occurred at around 2 a.m. under Kenh Te Bridge when the trailer, carrying a crescent-shaped steel plate weighing more than 10 tonnes, collided with a garbage truck traveling in the opposite direction, the report said.
The impact caused the plate to slide off and crush the truck's cabin, trapping the driver inside. He later died of severe injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. ■
