KABUL, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan has cleared a total of 70.49 square km of land contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance across the country over the past year, the official Bakhtar news agency reported on Thursday.

During these operations, authorities discovered and neutralized 43,591 landmines and unexploded devices.

The authorities said that these initiatives remain a top priority, particularly in regions most affected by past wars, and urged continued support to maintain and expand these crucial operations.
